Built as a plugin for Mozilla Firefox, psTools enables you to customise the look and the behaviour of photoSIG. See the complete list of features for full details.

Features

Prototype features

psTools was created for my own personal use. Several people have shown an interest in it so, I'm making it available to the general public. However, it isn't ready for prime-time just yet. There are a couple of consequences of this. Firstly, you may find that the available features don't work properly for you. Secondly, some features are so rough-and-ready that I haven't made them available yet.

If you'd like to see a new feature, please sponsor it. (I'm saving up for my first D-SLR. Without donations, the bugs will remain and no new features will be released.)

To give you a taste of what it looks like when all the features are working together, see this screenshot.

Low critique-ratio alerts

One of the stated aims of photoSIG is for each photo to receive three good critiques. Unfortunately however, some users are all take and no give. This feature allows you to set a ratio of critiques to photos. If you're viewing a photo from a user whose ratio is less than your chosen limit, you'll be alerted to it, so you don't waste your time.

This feature is already available as a prototype. Just download psTools.

Border color

Don't like the dark grey border that photoSIG uses for photos? With psTools, you can change it to any color you want.

Sadly, this feature isn't available quite yet. To see it in action, see the screenshot. If you'd like to use it, please register your interest.

View photo information

Want to know how a shot was taken? What shutter speed and f-stop was used? What ISO? What time of day? How about the software used to post-process the photo? This, and much more information, is included in more than 60% of the recently uploaded photos - it just isn't displayed anywhere. This feature allows you to see it on the same page as the photo.

Sadly, this feature isn't available quite yet. To see it in action, see the screenshot. If you'd like to use it, please register your interest.

Blocked user alerts

Sometimes, despite best efforts, it isn't possible to reconcile differences with another user. This feature allows you to "block" any such users. If you view one of their photos, you'll be alerted that you've blocked them. Obviously, the block can be removed at any time.

Sadly, this feature isn't available quite yet. To see it in action, see the screenshot. If you'd like to use it, please register your interest.

Small print removal

Annoyed by seeing the same legal small print below every photo? Find that it pulls your eye away from the picture? If so, this feature is for you. It simply hides the small print (although clearly that doesn't change the copyright situation of any of the photos you're viewing).

Sadly, this feature isn't available quite yet. To see it in action, see the screenshot. If you'd like to use it, please register your interest.

Requested features

The following features have been requested by psTools users but development has not yet started. If you'd like to use one of these features that isn't available yet, please register your interest by clicking on the feature below.

None

Work has already started on all requested features.

Is there another feature that you'd like to see? Before contacting me, please check the unavailable features below. If you don't see it listed there, just email me.

Unavailable features

Because psTools is a web browser plug-in, not part of photoSIG itself, there are some things that it can't do (or can't reliably do). The features listed below won't ever appear in psTools, so there's no point in wasting your time asking for them.

Internet Explorer plug-in

The effort to make psTools work with Internet Explorer is too great. Anyway, Firefox is a much better and safer web browser - and it's free.

If there's a feature you'd like that you haven't seen anywhere on this page, just email me.
